"The Warrior Queen drew me into an enchanted world I didn't want to leave, can't wait for the sequel." Claire Jackson

A stunning, earth-moving, epic romance based around the life of Guinevere and Arthur's Court.

Set in an age where rivalries were settled by the sword, and kingdoms could rise or fall for the love of a woman, The Warrior Queen is an exciting medieval romance about Guinevere, the young bride of the legendary King Arthur. She will have to use her inner strength and wits to survive those out to undermine her and her King. But must she temper her true desires to stay faithful to him?

"Arthurian legend at its best...I was left in a warm, glowing rapture after reading this series." Mark Stone, Kentucky

Never before has the magical world of Queen Guinevere, King Arthur and Lancelot and the knights of the Round Table been so richly explored than in this enticing saga of passion, duty and infidelity. Drawing on a rich seam of historical sources Lavinia Collins has created a fictional masterpiece, and epic romance that will stand the test of time.

The Warrior Queen is the first full novel length installment of the epic Guinevere Trilogy. Download A Champion's Duty (Book 2) here www./dp/B00JD35Z3W and The Day of Destiny (Book 3) here www./dp/B00L0MA2HI/

"Finally, a new literary treatment of this fabulous heroine. I couldn't put it down." Beth Simmons, Cork

Lavinia Collins is the author of several fantasy fiction titles. Look out for The Morgan Trilogy, the tale of King Arthur's sister Morgana, the witch from Avalon and the recently released Morgawse Trilogy, an epic series following the life of little-known Arthurian heroine Morgawse, Queen of the North.

I admit I stopped reading about halfway through. The writing is decent and the descriptions often lovely, although sometimes overdone. My main problem with this story was that there's just tons of sex scenes. When I encountered the first one I thought, "well, ok, there kind of is reason enough to put it here and it does sort of develop the characters" but pretty soon they just became superfluous, to the point of "ok, I get it--they bang ALL THE TIME."

I also wasn't particularly won over by the ease and rapidity with which the leading lady gave up all her anger at the man who led armies to slaughter her kingdom and instead fell madly in love with him. Of course the typical types of huge, broad shoulders, muscled, rugged, slightly angry, passionate, sexually experienced leading man, and beautiful, just-tough-enough-to-be-conquered, swooning maiden had to be used.

I don't know enough about Arthurian legend--I admit right up front--to pass any judgement on if the story was accurate or a departure in areas, but that didn't matter to me. The huge load of sexuality overbore any hope of me engaging with the story. Some readers just don't want to be poked in the eye by sex scenes every other page.

THE WARRIOR QUEEN The Guinevere Trilogy Book 1 eBook Lavinia Collins Reviews

This is a very interesting story. It is easy to read and catchy. It has interesting characters and good descriptive language.
Love this author's version of Guinevere the woman, the queen, the warrior. She has spirit and a mind of her own. The legend is not just about King Arthur, the other players come alive and play their parts in a fresh new way. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I loved this book. At last, we have a Guinevere for our time, yet one who is also firmly rooted in medieval world of the narrative. Without anachronism, Collins gives us brilliant access to the queen’s thoughts and emotions, her keen intelligence, strength, and compelling human responses to those surrounding her and to circumstances both within and beyond her control. The author has summoned into being a world and characters I found truly absorbing. This book is a page-turner, thanks to Collins’s pacing, storytelling, and intoxicating prose. I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy!
i do not read beyond a few pages of most contemporary "literature." these books present a unique take on the arthur legend. i think there is too much "bodice ripping" ( lavninia says "do you mean 'sex'" no i mean sex-like on and on) but the narrative is good and the characters are well made. there are a few contrived episodes (not unlike the originals!) but, all in all this actually adds to the cannon.
Well-written twist on tale of King Arthur told from viewpoint of Guinevere this time. A different feeling for familiar characters. Fast-paced reading. I am huge fan of the various versions of the Arthurian legend and this did not disappoint!
I'm a lover of anything about Arthur, Lancelot, Camelot ,Merlin, Morgan, and/or Avalon, and I was excited to discover this trilogy, so I bought all three books. First book is pretty good, for a while. Guinevere is relatively acceptable, at first, as are the Arthur and Lancelot characters. Then, one by one, they fall short of having any ethics or compassion for one another. Note, I said compassion; please don't confuse that with passion, of which there was a sufficient amount that, if written better, would have qualified these as wordy erotica. I found myself skipping over paragraphs because they were difficult to read for understanding or they were endlessly devoted to sex, sex, and more sex (so much that was unnecessary and added nothing to the story). Yes, I read all three...I paid for them, wasn't going to waste my money. If there had been less rehashing of events already mentioned, if the sentences hadn't been so convoluted, and if the author hadn't apparently been on a mission to pad every book with too many words in order to justify a trilogy, this entire story might have been better. In the end, I didn't care much for any of the three main characters, although I could appreciate Arthur a bit more than the others.
This book reminded me so much of the Outlander series, which I love. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Like Outlander, the author has an academic background and Ms. Collins uses her medieval literature studies to add authenticity. I loved all the details about the food and dress and society in general in a medieval castle. I loved her description of the knights and how people from other societies would have seen these warriors. I was transported into a realistic version of Camelot, not the glossy movie ideal.

Also like Outlander, there are magical elements woven into the story. I was hoping for Merlin and Morgan, and they are in this story, in addition to other magical characters. Their magic is woven into the story in a way that gives the reader a feel for the way magic was seen as part of everyday life in this era. It also brings a lot of unexpected twists and turns.

Finally, like Outlander, this is a great love story. Everyone knows the story of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot, but not from Guinevere's perspective. I could feel her passion for these two very different men and her internal conflict about what to do in this love triangle. Her character is relatable and feels in more modern than you would think. She is a strong woman who struggles to figure out her place as a wife and woman in a strange society. She also has magical elements that make her character even more complex. I can't wait to dive into book two for more sensual and sexy romance.

If you are in an "I'm finished with Outlander, now what?" slump, or just having withdrawals from the TV show, this book will do the trick for you. Highly recommended.
